Cloud service providers are turning to open source to improve business results, reduce costs and limit vendor lock-in. One such example is TIVIT.
TIVIT wanted to shift its business model from business process outsourcing (BPO) to integrated IT services with BPO. This shift would add more innovative services and expand its offerings, but, it also came with complexity. The need for lower cost, flexibility, and freedom from vendor lock-in, plus an open source (higher margin) platform, drove the need to develop an open source solution.
That solution was based on OpenStack and Ceph storage. It enabled TIVIT to transform beyond traditional IT services and offer:
- Multicloud solutions (offering public, private or hybrid cloud in partnership with other cloud service providers);
- Hybrid cloud solutions;
- On-demand cloud solutions; and
- TIVIT One Cloud, TIVIT’s self-service tool for customers to identify the best location to provision a virtual machine.
The solution is based on Intel® SSD DC S3500 Series, Intel® Xeon® Processor E5-2600 product family, Intel® Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X520-550, and Quad Port Intel® I350-AE4 Gbe I/O Module.
